To enhance quality of life by delivering respectful, client-centered care that promotes independence and peace of mind.
Our story is deeply rooted in family and community. It begins with Ole Johansen, a champion Canadian ski jumper in the 1940s and a beloved figure on the Sunshine Coast. Ole was known not only for his athletic achievements, but for his dedication to the Coast—helping shape Porpoise Bay by crafting campsites and forest trails that continue to be enjoyed today.
As Ole aged, his family experienced firsthand the importance of compassionate, reliable care at home. His caregiver and daughter-in-law, Donna, recognized a growing need for quality senior care in the community. Inspired by her experience and commitment to helping others, Sunshine Coast Senior Care was founded—forming the foundation of what is now Coast Care Ltd.
She later passed her title to her daughter, Lisa, who continued to uphold the same commitment to compassionate, client-centered service. Recognizing the genuine compassion and dedication that Jovy and Leah consistently showed to their clients, Lisa entrusted the business to them—confident in their ability to carry the mission forward with integrity, heart, and excellence in care.
Today, that legacy continues through Coast Care Ltd, guided by the same values of compassion, respect, and community. Care You Can Trust On The Coast is more than a tagline—it reflects the care we provide, the relationships we build, and the commitment we make to every client and family we serve.
Being a care aide is incredibly rewarding. What I love most about my work is the opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives by providing the care and support they need at home. It’s fulfilling to know that I’m helping others every day, and seeing our clients smile after receiving care truly makes my work meaningful.
My inspiration to work in home care comes from a genuine desire to help and support others. During my college years, my grandpa lived with us, and we assisted him with daily activities such as meal preparation and medication support. I even helped with washing his clothes by hand, something he deeply appreciated. That experience showed me how important compassionate, in-home care is and inspired me to become a caregiver who can make a real difference in people’s lives.
People who work in home care share a special level of compassion and empathy, and I truly care about the well-being of every client I support. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people on a personal level and create a warm, nurturing environment in their homes. I strive to be a kind, thoughtful, and dependable caregiver who provides personalized support whenever it’s needed.
I have been working in the healthcare sector for over seven years, supporting individuals with their daily needs and providing compassionate, dependable care.
With my wife’s encouragement, I applied to Sunshine Coast Community Living and discovered a genuine passion for caring for and serving older adults. Over time, home care became deeply meaningful to me, as it allows me to support people in a personal and respectful way within their own homes.
Caregiving allows me to give the love, patience, and support I was unable to give my parents, who passed away at an early age. In many ways, caring for my clients feels like caring for family, and I approach each day with that responsibility in mind.
What I love most about my job is how fulfilling it is. Being able to make a positive difference in someone’s daily life—whether through companionship, support, or simply being present—gives me a strong sense of purpose. Building meaningful connections with clients and helping them feel comfortable, safe, and valued in their own homes is the most rewarding part of my work.
I focus on building genuine, trusting relationships with my clients. By listening carefully, understanding their needs, and treating everyone with respect and dignity, I strive to provide home care that feels personal, compassionate, and truly trustworthy.
